Assignment Tool interface changes

The Assignment tool now has an extra text field: Submission, then Attach File, then Comments.

[will insert screen shot]

Missing Course Menu

In the PSY and MAT test courses that were brought over, the course menu seems to disappear when you view the syllabus.

Course Entry Point

In Bb9, a new tool called "Course Home" is the default Course Entry Point.

When Course Home is removed from the menu, the default course entry point becomes Announcements.

The setting to see the Course Entry Point is Control Panel > Customization > Style.
Additional wrinkle: Because our Bb7 courses already have a Course Home, this menu item is likely conflicting with the Bb9 native tool called Course Home.

Figure out what to do on the Bb7 side before archiving and on the Bb9 side after the course is transferred.

Mashups

This is a very cool tool which allows you to pull shared photos, videos and slide shows off of the internet. For youtube videos, there is a search tool within blackboard which allows you to search, preview, and select the videos you want to include in the course. Mashups has simlar search features for slideshows and photos.

I'm not sure what the copyright implications are for these mashups, although I know that you are simply embedding the link, not reproducing the material.

Archive and Restore now easy

The Courses page of the Admin tab has a drop-down list that lets you run archives and exports of any course showing in the search results. This is a huge advantage over having to click into the course properties or into the course itself to trigger the archive/export.

Visual Editor

Visual editor allows you to toggle the whole content area between html and view mode. I'm mainly excited about this because of the implications it has for cleaning up pasted text in test questions and choices. Instead of "modifying" each section of a question, one button will allow you to view each text box in html!

Content Collection

The Content Collection tool allows users to batch download all or some course files to a computer. Backing up course documents will be much easier because of this tool.
